There are two ways to do a live broadcast on Facebook: by the page itself and by a coding software.

  1. Transmission settings

In this tab, you must copy the stream key that Facebook will offer and paste in the software you will be using. This stream key is valid for 7 days. After previewing the video, you have up to 5 hours to start a live broadcast. If you need more time, you should create a new stream key closer to the schedule.

Attention: the Stream key is unique for each transmission, so if it is interrupted you will have to start a new one.

Next, you must make adjustments, such as adding a title for the video, description and keywords.

When the transmission starts in the software, a preview of the image will appear on the page below. However, you will only have to start the transmission when you click on “Transmit Live” on Facebook, and not on the software.

Here is a very important tip: doing this way, you can now leave your publication scheduled with the option of the target people the option to remember them through a notification at the moment you are live. This guarantees that you have already won a hearing before starting the transmission.

Thus, it is possible to establish on what date and time is going live and add an image for the disclosure of your live.

At the time of its programming, a publication that will be created automatically on your page.

Tip: at the end of your transmission, you can choose whether you want to post the video on your timeline or not. We suggest that you publish, so your followers will be able to access it whenever you want, and it will continue to bring results for you!

Good practices to make a live broadcast on Facebook

  1. Add a CTA

It is very important to use the live broadcast not only to have more visibility on your page and more commitment from your followers, but also to achieve your strategic goal on your page.

For example, if your main goal in your website is to generate conversions in your content, always provide the link of some free material related to the subject of the live to facilitate the conversion of the user. If your goal is to sell a product on your website, please provide this link to facilitate the purchase.

You can do this by adding the link in the description of the live (legend) or in the comments. The important thing is to take advantage of the live moment to recommend the viewer to click on the link that you have made available to perform the conversion or purchase action.

  1. Have consistency

When creating an agenda and a commitment it is much easier to maintain the consistency of lives, as well as to guarantee the presence of the spectator.

That is, if you create a program on TV Growth, here in the DR, where you already know that at least one edition will be carried out per month, on such date and at such time, you can conquer more and more faithful followers that always attend their live broadcasts.

  1. Everyone can (and should!) Do

The interesting thing about the live is that you can deal with any topic that interests your follower, that is, there is no such thing as “it is not any company that can do”. But I would like to give some examples of companies that I highly recommend this publication format.

Education companies and online courses, of course, have a lot of content ready, which facilitates the creation of this content format. It is important to take advantage of the ease that the company already has in transmitting live classes and participating with your users on Facebook as well.

Companies that are referents in the subject – for example, Digital Results as a reference in Digital Marketing – also tend to have a lot of content ready on the subject.

In our lives TV Growth program, we address topics such as Social Networks, Email Marketing, Growth Hacking, etc., which are topics in which we already have specialists who are references within the company.

Events of your company or that your company is participating are also perfect occasions to do a live broadcast. You can broadcast the lectures, interview the speakers, etc. In the RD Summit, for example, we made a live at the time of the announcement of the new RD Station made during the conference of our CEO, Eric Santos.

  1. No professional equipment is necessary

It is important to keep in mind that it is not necessary to have a highly evolved team to make a live. However, there are some things that are important to ensure the success of your live broadcast:

A camera: here in RD we use a high definition webcam, however, you can do even with your phone’s camera;

A microphone: so that the live is audible and its followers can listen to you in silence, it is interesting to use a microphone, which can be a lapel, a table or even the microphone that is already incorporated in the headphones;

Good lighting: if you do not have artificial lights, look to take advantage of the natural lighting of the day, remember that you should always face the lighting, you should never be behind you (be careful with the windows!);

Good internet: it is very important that the internet is good and without instability, since it will depend on the success of your live (with an unstable internet, the risks of slowing down in the middle of the transmission or the image does not stay good are many high );

  1. Analyze your results

At the end of a live broadcast there are some metrics that are important to be analyzed to optimize and improve your live every time.

Facebook itself already has a very good analysis tool for videos, and there you are able to extract all the data you need.

You can see, for example, that it was the peak of viewers that their live broadcast had; and at what moment of the live that happened. So you can calculate the average time it takes to reach a larger number of viewers; and leave the most important information of the next lives reserved for this moment.

Or you can find out what is the average time that people stayed watching your live to calculate what will be the ideal duration for future editions; and not end up doing a very short or very long transmission.

It is also possible to access the information of the audience that attended its transmission; such as the number of people reached, how many unique users, how many committed to the publication, what were the reactions; the sex and the age of the public and the main places where they were.

My intention is to share with you a little of the learnings we have had with the live broadcasts on the Facebook of the DR. I hope the content can help and bring more results through this type of resource!
